Political History

I am interested in Isle of Man and UK politics circa 1975 to present day, I have heard many speeches by the following ministers, Margaret Thatcher, Dennis Healy, Tom King, Patrick Mayhew, I am not a conservative and do not agree with privatisation, however many of their ideas on public order and society were very good.

Candidate Views

What is your view on health care provision on the Island?

The Isle of Man could look at treating more residents on the Island, saving them the trauma of travelling whilst not being well.

Does the Island provide a good education?

The Island could look at building a University on the Island for the children of the future, so many children have to leave to complete their education.

Should the Island be independent?

The Link with the UK is small, however recently it has become enormous because we have a tendency to call Westminster when we lose focus, this in my opinion is a weakness, we should run our Island with good Governance and lead the way.

I would like to see us Independent, however the English Crown bought out many rights of the Island in 1765 from the Duke of Athol, our politicians have also become very close in their political reactions after watching the moves of the UK,, let’s stay focussed and go our own way.

The UK brand name is good we should cherish the relationship.

What are your views on the islands taxation regime and VAT?

Search for a better option.

Is inflation hurting the Isle of Man?

Yes

Should there be state owned monopolies or free market competition (i.e. Water, Post, Gas, Electricity, Telecom's, Ferry Travel etc..)?

Yes

Should we have an open seas policy like the open sky's policy?

I am not sure about the open skies policy, too much competition can lead to companies with big investment crashing overnight, however we need to keep cost down to the public.

Does the Island do enough to protect its environment?

It often reacts too slowly.

Where do you see the future of the Islands economy (i.e. Finance, Manufacturing, Service, Tourism, Film, Space etc)?

Manufacturing and Finance,

Where do you think new jobs can be generated?

Manufacturing and building, why not build a motor racing track and employ Manx people, I think we could also look into Sea Turbine manufacturing,,get our factories up and going again.

Should the Chief Minister and MLC's be publicly elected?

Yes
