Richard Corkill won’t be standing in the House of Keys General Election.
The MHK has announced he’s giving up his seat in Onchan, which he’s held for 15 years.
It follows months of speculation as to whether he’ll look to keep his posistion when the Island goes to the polls next month.
Mr Corkill resigned as Chief Minister when police began investigating allegations tourism grants were used to fund building work at his family home.
He wasn’t charged with any offences although his wife, Julie, is still waiting the outcome of a recent court hearing into the matter.
In a statement, Mr Corkill says it was a difficult decision, which he’s taken for the welfare and safety of his family.
